Jose and their crew joined us for an early morning departure this fall, heading out under cloudy skies that promised some weather later in the day. The water conditions put us in the Regulated Navigation Area CFR 165.1325, which gave us solid structure to work with. We launched with Fassiottos Guide Service ready to target some quality salmon.

We focused our efforts on bottom fishing and casting with lures, mixing in some live bait fishing to cover all our bases. Jose and their crew connected with both Chinook Salmon and Coho Salmon throughout the morning. The regulated navigation area worked perfectly for our approach, giving us the depth changes and current breaks that salmon love to use as ambush points. The combination of techniques kept the action steady until that late afternoon rain rolled in just like the forecast called for.

The cloudy conditions actually worked in our favor for most of the day, keeping the fish active and willing to bite. Both the Chinook and Coho were responding well to our lure presentations, and the live bait fishing filled in the gaps when the casting slowed down. We wrapped up the trip with solid salmon in the box and everyone satisfied with the day's work.

What a fantastic day on the water we had with Darren and their crew in Tillamook, Oregon! The weather was perfect—partly cloudy skies with a light breeze that made for a comfortable day out on the river. The water conditions were great, and we were excited to get the lines in and see what we could find.

We started the day off trolling, using a mix of heavy and light tackle, and it wasn't long before we had our first Chinook Salmon on the line. Darren fought that fish hard, working the rod and keeping steady pressure until we were able to bring it into the boat. The salmon put up a great fight, jumping and peeling off line, but Darren kept their cool and landed a beautiful specimen. We continued to troll and drift fish, cycling through different techniques, and managed to hook into a few more Chinook over the course of the day.

The fishing was consistent, and the company was great. We shared stories, talked tactics, and enjoyed being out on the water together. These trips run from August through mid-November. As winter approaches, from January onwards, Captain Austin shifts focus to Steelhead fishing on the Wilson River in Tillamook or the Sandy River, covering areas from Oxbow Park to Dabney Park. Come April, he transitions to spring Chinook fishing on the Willamette River, including the Multnomah Channel and the vicinity of the St. John’s Bridge. All necessary equipment, including rods, reels, and terminal tackle, is provided, allowing you to concentrate solely on fishing. Be sure to purchase a valid fishing license before your trip.
